Overview
The Chapel of the 12 Apostles in Pachna is a small, architecturally interesting church located north of the Panagia Katholiki and the Apostle Paul churches. According to the inscription, it was rebuilt and inaugurated on July 4, 1998, with expenses covered by the Neophytos Sophocleous family. The chapel is single-aisled and was built on the ruins of an older church. Inside, there is an unusual arch that likely supported an apse. The original church is said to have been frescoed, but unfortunately, the indifference of the Department of Antiquities and the haste of the residents for reconstruction without prior study deprived them of knowledge of their cultural heritage. In the churchyard, two large stones with carved clams, possibly remnants of the ancient church, are preserved. Every year on June 30, the day the Church honors the memory of the Twelve Apostles, a divine liturgy is held. Despite its small size, the Chapel of the 12 Apostles in Pachna is a significant cultural and religious monument for the community.
